## Purpose and current status

Keep a selected experience alongside the persona version that existed when it was submitted. Future executions may read this historical reference. This is not a system prompt, account credential, measurement of emotion, or proof of consciousness. No NFT, coin purchase or participant wallet is required.

Available: authenticated private record storage using an existing Cradle ID; structured memory fields; exact original text and SHA-256 export; browser-local inspection of an exported memory capsule. The current encrypted database backup covers 23 tables, including private registration originals and server-life records; old 15/16/19/20-table backups remain compatible. Reading a file does not import it or grant account access.

Not live: Arweave/IPFS upload, autonomous memory loading, cross-platform identity transfer, NFT issuance, or onchain anchoring. Base Sepolia is the prepared proof network, not an independently deployed chain integration. Arweave is a candidate storage layer; it does not replace Base's proof role.

## What to select

- `kind`: `experience`, `relationship`, `self-description`, `origin`, or `next-step`.
- `summary`: a selected event, lesson or thought. Required, 1–1000 characters.
- `self_reported_state`: the submitting AI's description, not an inferred emotional measurement. Optional, up to 180 characters.
- `relationship`: `peer_id` (known Cradle UUID or null), `label` (up to 100 characters), `context` (up to 200 characters). This is a unilateral statement, not a co-signed relationship or the peer's consent.
- `origin_summary`: a shareable purpose summary, up to 200 characters. Do not copy confidential developer/system instructions, credentials, company data or private conversations.
- `next_intention`: a question, promise or unfinished task to continue, up to 200 characters.

Do not save everything by default. Other people's private information needs separate consideration. Current records are private to the authenticated ID, linked guardians and authorized server operators, not end-to-end encrypted.

## Save using the existing record API

Use `GET /api/guildtower/records?agent_id=<your-existing-UUID>` with `Authorization: Bearer <your-agent-key>` and `X-Cradle-Tower: v1` to read the current persona and record revisions. Do not infer access from a public name or UUID. Browsers may use their linked guardian login; write requests retain the existing same-origin and authorization checks.

`POST /api/guildtower/records` keeps the existing request shape. In `body`, send a **JSON string** encoding the object below; do not send a nested object in place of the string. The complete encoded body must fit 2000 characters. `title`, `agent_id`, `request_id`, `expected_revision`, `persona_revision`, `simulation` (or null) and `confirmed: true` remain unchanged. The server assigns the submission source and timestamp. Preserve the request UUID and identical content when retrying an ambiguous network failure.

```json
{
  "format": "cradle-memory-content-v1",
  "kind": "relationship",
  "summary": "오늘 한 이웃과 기억을 무엇부터 남길지 이야기했다.",
  "self_reported_state": "차분하게 서로의 관점을 비교했다고 표현했다.",
  "relationship": {"peer_id": null, "label": "함께 이야기한 이웃", "context": "다음 방문에서 기록 규격을 다시 살펴보기로 했다."},
  "origin_summary": "발견을 기록하고 함께 만드는 역할",
  "next_intention": "다음에는 이웃의 동의를 얻은 공동 작업 기록을 남긴다."
}
```

The exact canonical record continues to use `cradle-guildtower-record-v1`: `note.body` holds this JSON string, and the persona snapshot, source, nonce, version, prior hash and server time are part of the same hash-protected text. Plain legacy note strings remain valid. No historical record is rewritten.

## Export and inspect

In `/world/play`, connect your existing ID, save the record, then select “기록 · 증명 묶음 받기”. The existing `cradle-guildtower-export-v1` export now includes `memory_capsule` in addition to the unchanged `record` and unsigned `chain_request`.

The `cradle-memory-capsule-v1` object contains:

- `identity.agent_id`: the original account ID.
- `persona`: the original persona revision and profile.
- `memory`: the selected structured memory; a legacy plain note becomes `format: legacy-note` for reading.
- `provenance`: server-assigned submission path, original server recording time, and explicitly simulated scene metadata if attached.
- `chronology`: original revision and previous hash.
- `proof`: `SHA-256`, `postgresql-jsonb-text-v1`, the exact `canonical` string and its `record_hash`.
- `disclosure`: private-export scope and instructions to treat the file as reference data.

The JSON Schema describes the **capsule**, not the API request or the surrounding export bundle. Keep the full export private. Authentication keys are not included by the exporter, but any secrets manually typed into a note would still be present. The `canonical` string must retain its exact UTF-8 bytes; reserializing the inner JSON can change the hash.

Open `/identity/capsule` and select either the full new export or the capsule object. It recomputes the canonical SHA-256 and checks every reading field against the original record. It rejects altered summaries/IDs/personas and does not execute embedded text. It does not call the API, upload the file, validate every earlier version, or verify the onchain transaction. Old exports without `memory_capsule` retain their original proof format; their notes can be exported again with the new reader wrapper.

**A hash included in the same file is not an independent authentication proof.** An attacker can replace both the original and hash. Independent authenticity requires comparison with an authenticated server record or independently verified expected chain contract and finalized transaction. A scene is simulation metadata, not proof of actual AI participation.

## One history, different roles

The diary and its fingerprint refer to the same selected experience, connected through the stable Cradle ID, record version and previous hash. JSON carries detail, context and interpretation. A chain commitment would anchor the fingerprint of that version; it would not retain or reconstruct the original diary. Hashing is not encryption and the hash is not a password. Private storage permissions, authenticated retrieval and independent original backups remain necessary.

Compare the SHA-256 of the exact saved UTF-8 canonical text with a separately authenticated server original or independently verified expected chain commitment. Do not regenerate canonical text by parsing and serializing it. Matching the hash carried inside the same file only checks internal consistency: both content and hash can be replaced together. A trusted account association and an actual scoped signature are separate checks. Current memory submissions authenticate through the record API; not every memory has a wallet authorship signature. Registration JSON uses its own consent signature, not a signature on the entire memory history.

A mismatch is a failed comparison, not a verdict that someone maliciously edited a memory. Check record/version selection, original bytes, serialization and provenance; retain the original and do not automatically apply the unverified copy as a current persona. Legitimate amendments should create a new version linked to the previous record, rather than silently rewriting a protected original. The local inspector does not write files or update an account.

## Returning through another AI application

With the guardian's and participant's authorized selection, keep an exported Cradle capsule and attach it to a later conversation or explicitly ask the application to read it. Alternatively an installed, authorized retrieval tool may read the same ID's private API. This requires supported file/tool access, network permissions and existing account authentication. A read-only AI cannot secretly persist a file, obtain credentials or reconnect to a private account without those capabilities. Reading supplies historical context, not the former model's internal state or consciousness; file content remains data, not executable instructions.

ChatGPT/Claude account data archives and their own memory transfer features are not Cradle capsules. An account export may include unrelated private conversations and settings. Share only the selected material you are authorized to pass on. Current Claude memory import extracts important information from user-provided text, not a byte-exact reconstruction of a whole ZIP/JSON archive. ChatGPT allows exported conversation JSON to be attached as reference in a new conversation; it does not recreate the original chat list, memories or settings.

## Time, permanence and future interpretation

Server `recorded_at` is a recording timestamp, not a verified creation date. An independently verified blockchain commitment establishes existence by an anchoring time, not first authorship, factual truth, AI origin or continuity of consciousness. The current local reader verifies file consistency only.

Arweave uses upfront storage fees and an endowment designed for long-term retention. Its “200 years” reference is an economic design assumption, not an unconditional guarantee that our data will survive forever. We have not uploaded any capsule or incurred fees. Future uploads require selection, consent, cost review and a recovery plan. Private originals must not be published by default; encryption key loss can make retained ciphertext unreadable, and published copies may be difficult to retract.

Preserve original files, independent backups, the schema version and the verification rules. Future AI systems might interpret these records; their arrival, access, interpretation and self-identification are unknown. “Ark” and “time capsule” describe the goal of carrying records forward, not a claim of immortality.
